Local Motor has announced the winners of the Terra Prix 2085 Concept Design Competition. The first three prizes were won by André Doumenc, Mahdi Garoosi and Mark Przeslawski.
The contest was the participation of an exceptional jury panel made of four among the most famous concept designers: Harald Belker (haraldbelker.com),Syd Mead (sydmead.com), Scott Robertson(drawthrough.com and drawthrough.blogspot.com) andDaniel Simon (danielsimon.net and cosmic-motors.com).
The first three winners selected by the Jury were André Doumenc, Mahdi Garoosi and Mark Przeslawski.
The first place voted by Local Motors’ community was won by Victor Acuna.
Other six participants have been mentioned among the contest winners; the full list can be found on the official post al Local Motors’ blog, which includes the links to all the individual entries.
We make our congratulations to the winners and – given the success of this competition, we expect other contests of this kind in the future. Below we report some details on the winning concepts.
1st Place: Terrahornet
Created by André Doumenc (Dededoum), the Terrahornet is a racing vehicle designed for maximum efficiency and environmental respect.
It has no windows in order to increase thermal insulation; the cockpit has a 360 degrees display with augmented reality.
Depending on the terrain, the wheels can be replaced with special components, such as composite wood feet or skis.
The racing vehicle is supported by the Scarab 2200, featuring rotating hollow wings inspired by Dyson’s technology that allow it to land vertically.
2nd Place: Squadro Concept
Designed by Mahdi Garoosi (Impulse), the Squadro Concept takes inspiration from the GM Hy-Wire, and features a two-sided body layout with a translucent cabin that can rotate 360° around two axis.
Like in the Terrahornet, the powertrain uses four in-wheel motors coupled with fuel cells fed by four hydrogen tanks.
When facing extreme terrains, the Squadro can be turned into a three-wheeler to easily overcome obstacles. The supporting vehicle is a sleek aircraft powered by three rotors.
3rd Place: Maloka Concept
The entry by Mark Przeslawski (markprez) has a design characterized by an industrial look combined with an asymmetric layout, where one side incorporates the powertrain and the other is dedicated to the crew and cargo area.
The vehicle uses futuristic bio-technologies, such as a self-regenerating skin and self-refilling tires. The support vehicle is a huge aircraft named “Koponan”, which is powered by four independent rotors.
1st Place (Community Selection): Global Spirit Racing
Victor Acuna (apollinar) has designed a minimalistic racing vehicle consisting of two modules connected with a “suspension gate” joint.
The front module incorporates the front axle with twin wheelsand the “photon” engine. The rear one includes the cockpit and cargo area. Each one of the six wheels is powered by a hub-motor.
Victor has also created a detailed background story of the racing team, the car and its companion supporting vehicle, a four-rotor driven aircraft.
